Laundry-Room / Vending-Room Security

Secure your Critical Rooms
with the    Shield, Striker & Helmet
(U.S. Patent Pending)

Laundry-Room and Vending-Room break-ins are becoming a large problem for apartment
owners and managers, and are spreading to all kinds of neighborhoods.

One break-in can cost many hundreds of dollars to repair. The costs include the repair and/or replacement of the door, door frame, latch hardware, the damaged machinery, and the stolen coin revenue.

Coin machines which rely on steel protection devices for the coin boxes are AT GREATER RISK, because thieves either destroy the machine to gain access, or carry away the entire machine and break into the coin box later.

The only REAL answer is to prevent access to the room where the machines are.

Our protection system consists of three high-strength steel components, specially designed to prevent unauthorized access. Our components, in combination with a high-grade storeroom lockset and a spring-closing mechanism, provide superior protection for a solid-core door.
The Helmet attaches to the outside of the door. It provides a high-strength steel cover over the doorknob, which prevents the criminal from breaking off the knob to gain entry.

The lip of the Helmet wraps around the jamb, preventing the door from being wedged or pried open.

The Shield attaches to the inside of the door. It works with the Helmet to sandwich the lockset-area of the door between two high-strength steel plates,
to provide a huge increase in strength for the door, reinforcing it at its weakest point where the holes for the lockset and latch are cut. This reinforcement prevents the door from breakage by impact.

The Striker is a high-strength latch-plate which attaches not just to the sash, but to the 2x6 door framework with six 3-inch-long, high-strength screws, and prevents an intruder from forcing the door open and from splitting the door frame, either by impact or by wedging.

The Helmet, Shield and Striker are available in 2-3/8, 2-3/4 and 5 inch backsets. The Helmet is finished in primer-powdercoat, ready to be finished in a color complimentary to the building. The Shield and Striker are finished in high-quality white powdercoat.

The Recommended Complete System:

In order to provide the best level of protection, EPI recommends that the Helmet, Shield and Striker be installed with a high-grade Storeroom Lockset and three spring hinges on the door.

The outside knob of the Storeroom Lockset does not move. The twisting of the key withdraws the latch and allows the door to open. The door remains locked when the key is removed. The inside knob works normally for easy exit.

The spring hinges assure that the door closes and re-latches as soon as a person lets go of the door. That makes it unlikely that an intruder will gain entry because the door was left ajar.
